NHS R&D Permission for Clinical Studies

Current R&D permission time: 16 working days (median)
Establishment of the NHS Research Scotland Permissions Coordinating Centre (NRS Permissions CC) has led to substantially faster R&D permissions across Scotland. The Centre also offers a free Feasibility Service to commercial companies looking to conduct clinical studies in the NHS in Scotland.
The NRS Permissions CC:-
- manages the streamlined process to obtain R&D permission for multicentre trials in the NHS across Scotland
- provides a single point of contact for industry and investigator
- handles commercial and non-commercial research projects
- visits individual company sites to explain the process
- actively manages the R&D permissions process to deliver on time
- conducts regular performance monitoring and analysis
- coordinates global governance checks for UK wide studies
- has direct links with NIHR CSP Unit (England), NISCHR PC Unit (Wales) and Northern Ireland process, for UK-wide studies
Full details of the process for securing multicentre R&D permissions and appropriate paperwork, and the feasibility service offering, are included in the extensive web site www.NRSPCC.org.
If you would like NRS Permissions CC to visit you, please visit their website www.NRSPCC.org, or get in touch at nhsg.NRSPCC@nhs.net or 01224 552690.
